Had not looked at craigslist for a while, click and just as I did, some guy listed a junk boat on a good sealander trailer all for $200 bucks, so found a newer trailer for the Starcraft I bought last weekend, I will be back in the water before you know it!

YeHa.

Great to see Will win the 500 as well, he deserves it, he has won everything else, so this was his last ticket to ride, all the boxes are now checked off!. Congrats Will.

Well went and picked up the trailer and junk boat today and I am surprised, the boat is not actually that bad, it is a 1981 Glastron SSV-176, complete with the exception of the motor, still has all of the fittings and the steering system as well as a 2 year old stainless steel gastank the OP had built right before he parked it. Full windshield that is in good shape. All of the instruments as well as the glove box and a newer marine radio with CD.

All in all, I figure there is over a grand in used parts on this boat, in good shape that others will want to buy. So I will be able to make my $200 dollar investment back and make some profit so I can refit the parts of the trailer that need updating, it is a double bunk with duel rollar system trailer that Glastron used to manufacture for their boats, it needs a couple of new rollers as well as some new tires and wheels.

So I figure I came out pretty good. Been a good week so far and I will be happy to get back on the water this summer and do some fishing and just being lazy!

MT. What do you do with the old hulls you junk?

I take them to the dump and they help me push it off, then I bring the trailer home and put under the other boat, also if you have an aluminum junker, we have a recycling business here that will give you .35 a pound if you strip all of the rigging that is not aluminum on it.

I can take one boat a month to the garbage dump for free

I know, I don't know how long it will last, we have a new sanitation cheif and he is trying to charge us for everything, but we already pay for the dump through our property taxes and that last time, they tried to put a $1.00 charge on getting rid of tires, they ended up with junk tires laying around in the woods, so that was repealed.

Well, just a small update, got rid of the boat today, they did change things and now they charge to get rid of boats. Not much but it did surprise me, it cost me $17 to get rid of 1100 pounds of fiberglass boat, so not to bad in the long run. I have sold the windshield for over $400 so I am already ahead by a couple of hundred which paid for new lights as well as fenders and new tires and wheels for the trailer, couple of cans of paint and the new boat will be sitting on the trailer.

That's the way to do it, MT.

New trailer, cash in your jeans and the birds nest is buried at the dump. :thumb:
