Apparently iboats has been retooling the site a bit so I wanted to test it out.

Feel free to post whatever you want, this is starcraft country:D

After looking at the Starcraft restorations I was hooked. Great classic lines and a sweet vintage look. Had to have a Tinnie.

Common traits I've noticed in Starcraft guys: We have an intense ability to see the potential in boats that most would consider scrap, a desire to do as much(if not all) the work ourselves, an appreciation of classic lines and if left to our own devices, we would drag home damn near every project Starcraft we ran across.

I will have to agree with you motorpsykler, even though this is my first restoration, all the points you mention are true.

I have to agree with your assessment motor...we are truly a marina's worst nightmare.

We buy used boats on craigslist, eliminating any middleman's profit. We wrench on our own motors as much as possible and if we do take it in it's probably to a local mechanic rather than a marina.

We do seem to get MBS(multiple boat syndrome) rather quickly as well:D

Okay I am onboard with this group. Looking forward to sharing my endeavors with a recent aquisition of a 1969 Starcraft 16' ?. Closed Bow, Stern Drive 80, back to back seats which layout and a solid curved wind screen. Once I can post pic's I will, in the mean time any thoughts on model. I am thinking Jupiter, but cant find any numbers or plates on the boat.

Thanks for the invite..This site is driving me insane and I'm about to get MBS! 69 Starchief in the back yard just waiting for me to get started on the resto. Completely gutted. The PO even took out all the little rivits holding the fly bridge on. Had to tie it down to get it home. I'll start a thread when I get going. For now I'm enjoying my last resto, a 1983 16' SS that suffered a caved in hull.

Cheers
