Is it mandatory to replace it? The reason I ask, is one did not come with the carb kit even though I thought it would and should. I'm soaking all parts in carb cleaner now. Welch plug is still in place. Any help would be great. At this time I don't have time to order one.
Thanks, Marty

Blow liquid thru the low speed needle passage if it comes out the holes behind the venturi, it's clean use some fingernail polish to re seal the plug and it will be fine

Re: Welch Plug for !973 Merc 200 Carb

Laddies, a big thank you and great timing it was. I posted another question about the check valves in the fuel block. Is there any information on which way they set in the plastic block. There are two. I'm assuming the one from the bottom has to allow fuel in, but closes so it won't escape back. The top should allow fuel out to the carb, but not allow it to flow back. They are flat on on side and pointy on the other. Am I close in thiniking bottom points in top points out. I have two new ones, but they old dropped out when I pulled it apart.
Thanks.
