One day I was fishing for bream on a dock with bread. I caught a bream about 5in. and accidentally fliped the bail and the fish dropped into the water. I laughed as the fish swam under the dock. I then started reeling in and thoght crap it got stuck under the dock. I started reeling and realized that it was slowly reeling in. As I told my friend its stuck get me something to cut the line. A 6lb bass came out from under the dock. I was surprised it ate the bream and the tiny hook actually barely hooked the bass. Anyone have a story like this?

A couple of months ago, I was bream fishing with my trusty ultralight with 4lb test line. I hooked and landed a 21lb buffalo. I know it was just a rough fish, but boy was it fun! :D

Ever have a 30" northern latch onto the 14" walleye you are bringing in?
Mom was on the end of the rod, but I managed to net them both.

I have a wild one. Roscoe, ever fish up in WI. Rapids?? I was on Lake Nebco this past spring. My boat partner hooked a 14" Walleye under a bridge and got it to the side of the boat. He was just about to put his hand in the water, I repeat, he was just about to put his hand in the water and grab the fish, when all of the sudden... WHOOOOOSH, SPLASH, CHOMP... and he's soaking wet. What I thought was close to a 50" Musky came up, broke the surface and clamped down on that Walleye, RIGHT NEXT TO THE BOAT!!! This fish had some big, big shoulders on it. We both had a great look at it and we were both saying the same thing.... "HOLY SH___!!!!!!!!!!. He played the fish out for about 6-7 minutes before it came finally came up again and leapt out of the water, in all it's "trophy-looking fish" glory. Then, it finally let the poor Walleye go. My partner reeled in the mangled fish. Man, was that a sad looking – half-dead fish, looking like it took a shotgun blast and then got run over on the highway...

Here's a good picture of Pike on Pike action... I'll try and post the photo. Not sure if it will work though...
Ugh! Sorry about the size, but it's my first posting of a picture. Anyhow, the big size is worth seeing with this picture.

Holdimhook,
Buffalo ribs are good eating, learned that in Louisianna.

Was fishing a small pond, caught a small bass on a jerk bait, while reeling in had another small bass try to take the lure from the other, and he got the second set of trebble hooks. I see all this as the pond was clear, right at the dock, a 6.5 lb bass comes from nowhere and snags one of the smaller bass and I retrieved all 3.

Re: weird fishing stories

My old college roomate went home for a wedding one weekend. He told me that on the way to the wedding he got stopped by a train, and his car was on a bridge with a body of water below. He gets tired of waiting for the train and gets out of his car, looks over the bridge and sees a big northern in the water below. He decides to get his fishing pole out of the trunk. He drops a line in front of the fish and bamm. So he is in his suit and tie and walks around the bridge into the the woods and brush, and mud to reel in this northern. He comes to the wedding with mud all over his pants and shoes. I didn't see it first hand but I love that story.

Cool pic and story BassCat.
Out fishing with my dad about 20 years ago. 2 mid 20's northern on the stringer and my uncle pulls along side to discuss plans for shorelunch. The boats were about 6' apart with the stringer between them. WHAM !! A huge northern hits one on the stringer. All heck breaks loose with those 3 fish flopping around. The big one did not let go of the fish for a good 30 seconds. When it was all done, we were all soaked and one of the fish on the stringer was bit in half.

Re: weird fishing stories

The craziest thing happened to me last summer fishing in northern Manitoba Canada. I was fishing for jumbo perch with a pickeral rig and frozen shiners. The line was in the water for no more than 2 minutes when there was a bite. I set the hook and brought in a very tiny perch. It was too small to keep so i released it. I rebaited my hooks and threw the line back in. Unfortunately the fish wasn't going to make it and skittered around the surface of the water. There was a gull flying by when it noticed the perch and started to circle and swoop in on the little fish. I had a second rod and was just goofing around casting it at the gull not really expecting anything to happen when I felt a bite. I set the hook and started reeling it in.

I was bringing in the line and when it was close to shore I saw that it was a pike. I had noticed that the pike had a lure in its mouth that I had lost earlier. BONUS!!

Meanwhile the gull decided to swoop again but this time got it's wing tangled in my other line. So there I was with a rod in my hand trying to land the pike as i watched the gull start to pull my other rod into the lake. I ran, skipped, slipped across the rocks still holding onto the rod with the pike trying to stop the other rod from going in. So now I have a rod in each hand, one with a pike and the other with a gull tangled. Which one do I deal with first? It was a small pike so I put down the rod with the pike against a tree so it wouldn't go anywhere. I slowly started to bring in the line that was tangled around the gull. I was lying on my belly trying to get the line untangled as the gull absolutely went beserk. Squawking, flapping and trying to peck at me as I tried to free it. Finally free the gull took off. As I reeled in the line I felt this little tug. Sure enough I had a nice sized perch on the line as well. Landed that fish and went back to the other rod with the pike and landed that one as well.

A perch, pike and gull all at the same time.
Definitley one of those things I will never forget.

Re: weird fishing stories

2 stories, both from when I was a youngster...

1) Spent a day fishing for jacks (northern pike for you southerners ;) ) and my line had got a bit twisted on the spool... we were on shore and loading up to head out but I wanted to untangle the line in my reel. So I went to my Dad's tackle box and snapped the biggest bell weight he had onto my leader and cast the thing as far as I could into the lake (went far). The tangle got pulled out and cleared and I retrieved it as fast as I could turn the handle to avoid a snag... bang get a hit and I just didn't slow down the retrieve, kept going as fast as I could turn. Up comes about a 3 lb jack and I pulled it right up onto shore beside me, finally opens it's mouth and spits out the weight. That was my first experience at fishing barbless.

2) I was young lad bored and hot sitting in the boat. We were still fishing over a deep spot (which I always found boring) and I started going through Dad's tackle box for fun. Found a few feet of scrap line that had been cut off at some point or other and tied on an old Canadian Wiggler (just to see how it worked). The line was hard to hold on to with my bare hands, so I snapped a golf ball sized float on it to give me something to hold onto. Then I threw the lure overboard and 1/2 hung overboard to watch it wiggle while I pulled it up and down about a foot holding the float. It only took about 15 seconds before a little hammer handle (~ 1 lb jack) took it right before my eyes. I held onto the float and pulled the line in by hand.... It felt weird to feel a fish pull directly to your hand, not through a rod. I wasn't bored anymore!
