I have a 14 ft fibreglass runabout with a 40 horse johnson and a home made heavy duty trailer i would say the trailer weighs a good 300 - 350 lbs, the axle was the rear end off a triumph, it broke, i have a 2000 lbs axle with 4.80 X 12 tires will this make a 800 km round trip to go get the boat where i left it cause of the broken axle, or should i spend more money on the rig and buy a bigger axle just for one trip!!!

Re: weight question

That 2,000# axle should be plenty for that rig, Denis. Check the weight capacity of those tires, though, each should be good for 900-1,000#.

If not, put a pair of "C" rated 13" tires on her.

Good luck. :)
