i have a 15ft Tuffy Custom Rogue that is a tri-hull. looked good on the trailer when i bought it but soon discovered wet foam, rotted floor, rotted transom and several gallons of water trapped in boat. now that all of that weight is out of there and the boat has straighten out it rocks on the trailer. all of the weight is on the 2 keel rollers with no weight on the bunks. i'm guessing the added weight pushed the bunks down in their adjustments. when i raise the bunks how much weight should i take off the keel? i assume the keel has to touch the roller with some weight otherwise it would have no support value and loading and unloading would be really hard on a shallow launch ramp. but i also assume the bunks should carry some of the weight. i have the boat adjusted on the trailer so the i have about 1 inch of bunk protruding behind the transom to support the transom and motor (28hp Johnson SPL).

Re: weight on keel roller or bunks?

My boat is a semi vee and rests on the bunks only when loaded on the trailer.
There is one keel roller at the very back of the trailer where the deeper sction of the bow will roll on if the ramp is a bit shallow, but for the most part it just holds the trailer end of my transom saver.

Most of the weight should be on the bunks. It does not hurt to have some on the rollers but not all.
