Hi guys,
I have just bought a 18 ft. sail boat that weighs 1500 lbs, it comes with a galvanized load rite trailer. The trailer has f-78-14st tires and a single axel. I am looking for an approximate weight of the trailer so I can come up with the tongue weight required. I have to travel about 90 miles to pick up the boat and want to do it as safely as possible without swaying the rig. I was thinking of putting some weight foward in the bow such as the small 4 h.p. motor and some tools, just to insure a little more tonge weight.I am also having the bearings and seals re-packed and the axels checked before the trip home as a precaution. My vehicle is a explorer sport and has a factory bumper hitch rated for 3500#.
I plan on taking it real easy and always staying to the right when possible. I understand that it is better to keep the trany in drive and not in overdrive, in order not to destroy it. Any help in this matter will be appreciated. The first few miles will be hilly, but the rest of the trip is pretty level .
Thanks
Bill

I Can't feature you'll have Any Issues with such a Small rig,........

Like you say,.... Just throw All the Chowder into the Bow,+ Take it Easy.............

That Trailer might weigh 500/750lbs........
