I just moved to Michigan from Louisiana and need to register my boat and trailer. To get a MI license plate I must provide the weight of the trailer. Can anyone tell me the weight of a 1992 17' Tracker Trailstar trailer. It is galvanized 3" steel channel with 13" tires if that helps. The package included a BassTracker Pro 17 with 60HP Evenrude motor.

The woman at the Secretary of State's Office said she needs the trailer's weight. But if anyone knows the weight capacity this information might be useful as well.

Your help will be greatly appreciated as I would like to get on the water before it gets too cold.

I believe it would weigh between 250-300 pounds. We have a Targa 17' walk-through and Trailstar trailer with 14" tires. Good fishing!!

If the Secretary of State's office is willing to take the opinion of someone (no offense nboater) on a boating forum, I'd just make up something reasonable.

My estimate was based on the listed package weight of our rig, minus the weight of the motor and boat.

You could probably find a local place and weigh it, if you wanted to. Two local places that do it here (granted this is a very small town I'm in) are the local Stone Store (for weighing truckloads of lanscaping rocks) and the local landfill (for weighing residential dropoffs). When asked, these places will often let you do it gratis if they aren't busy.

HTH,
ON
