Hello,
i just changed the impeller in my outdrive for the first time. I got everything back together and fired it up with the muffs. I noticed water coming out of a small hole in the lower unit on the opposite side of the drain plug, but only water and when you rev th engin the water comes out harder. Can someone tell me what I did wrong?
thank you
scott

My guess is your impeller is pumping water around the base of the pump, or the tube isn't connected properly. The weep hole drains water from the inside of the drive cavity...

I would guess, depending on the year of your drive and which hole you're talking about, maybe nothing is wrong.

That's just from some hunting of my own because I only really see water drain of out of when it's not running and I just pulled it from the water at the ramp or got done running it on muffs. I've got a 1980 or so MC-1. So please, someone correct me if that link has bad info.

water will drain from that cavity, thats what its there for. without it the lower unit would crack from trapped water.
Should never be water coming out on its own when running

You didn't get the assembly correct. I think nola mike has your answer. Getting the water tube in the right place is challenging when the whole drive is upside down in the shop. Getting it right from the bottom up while the upper hsg. is on the boat is more challenging, even for the experts.
