Hey, this was one of the smallest fish of the night. 2nd cast.. Not bad. They only get bigger as the weather cools.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. You Suck! jk

Actually I'm jealous...been out to the HRBT with little luck with the rockfish(I'm a Rookie)...but, have landed quite a few 19-20 inch flounders and 2 16" trout. Those were the keepers, the smaller ones comprised of the above and a sea bass and a sheapshead.

Hey, just wondering? do you live in the Woodstock subdivision, and if you do, is Chris Kelly your neigbor? I work w/ him and he says he has a neighbor named Kenny that's a Rock guru w/ a yellow boat. Just wondering. Keep in mind I have my eyes on the lookout for a yellow 19-21' boat :D

Bobby Powell

May the fish bite, and hopfully it will be a big one :D  :p

Nope, I'm not Kenney.

The Rock bite is ON, but make sure to catch it at night with a good running tide. When the tide goes slack, so do the fish. We went out Tuesday and Wednesday night with no running tide. Marked thousands of fish, but only landed 2.

When the tide is rolling you will catch them every cast.

I use the rebel wincheater. The blue one works best and they have them on sale at West Marine on Great Neck Road. 6 for $25.00 bucks. Good deal.

Also, if you are fishing the bridge tunnel and have no luck, run over to the Lesner Bridge near Duck Inn.

Keep drifting under the bridge and throw your lure at the poles. Its a pretty instant bite and you should have your limit in about 2 minutes.

If you need any other info let me know.

Yes Bobby please let me know. I have been wanting to head up that way for a bit of a change instead of fishing the CBBT. My girlfriends work friend lives in Willoughby and have a dock in his backyard. He fishes every night and knows how to get em quick. I will try to get some specs on the spots for your next trip.

Also, lets try and get some info for the winter season in the ocean. I heard right in front of the hotels you can land 30lbs+ stripers and blues in January and February just trolling stretch 25's

Did not head out sat night but went out Sunday around 2pm to the HRBT. the tide was moving but man no hits! Father-in-law claims before a front comes through these stripers get lockjaw. I have been out twice before a front came through and caught nothing.

I got bud's telling me they are slaying them during the weeknights so I am gonna try again Thursday night. I will take my father-in-law and have him so me the hoy spots. I'll pass them along...

jws: I'm using bucktails, gotcha's, and twin rigged bucktails. I also haven't been going out at the most ideal time either...I at least hope this is my problelm

Bobby:

If the fish are on top, use the Rebel Wincheater. The blue one. If they are not on the surface use a 6" shad body with a pretty big jig head.

This will get um.

YAHOOO!!!!!

We were in the water Sat night at 8:45pm and went straight to HRBT. lotsa boats but no-one is catching fish

I knew high tide was going to be around 1AM so my buddies and I decided to hang out and wait to see what happens after the tide shifted. Well, 45 min after the tide shifted, blues were hittin' thetop water like crazy. So we cast out and I catch a tone of blues and the other 2 guys caught all the striper.

At this point I am fumming mad! They reached our limit for all three of us. So, as the action slowed we decided to pack up........but wait!...... I hooked a Striper! Man did this make my morning. :D
Once we checked the time we were shocked, it was 5:00am....Holly Cow, time flys. I thought it was only 3AM. I didn't think that the fish would be biting for 3.5 hours.

We all headed back in and talked about the great time we just had :D

Bobby

Congrads Bobby. Boy those fish fight and are great eating also.

You guessed it right - 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours after a tide change the fish are active. Plan your next venture around this scenario.
