Re: Website for fish names

Sorry Ken I don't know a website and to make matters worse the most common local names of some fish even change as they increase in size. Example puppy drum, chanell bass, red drum all are the same fish called a redfish by some by others a spottail bass. The best way to find out is either to ask someone (like post it here) or get a fish ID book and look up the fish you saw. While most books use the most common common name one that I was given as a gift lists several of the most common names for many species of fish both Salt and fresh water.

Thanks guys.

I fish only salt, and only know the names:

redfish (red drum), black drum, sheepshead, speckeled trout, hardhead, and croaker. Deeper waters I get spanish mackeral, ling, tuna, flounder, and red snapper.

Probably a few more I forgot.

Ken
