I have a 92 seaway with a 7.4 liter mercruiser. The oem webber carb needs to be replaced. One marina has told me to convert to a Rochester or Holley for better mileage, starting etc. The other marina told me not to rebuild but to replace with a new webber. The webber sounds easiest in terms of linkages etc. I will be having a marina do the work so I am looking for the best solution. Any opinions? What carbs are oem for later model big blocks? is the Webber really inferior to the Rochester or Holley?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... The Weber is the current production carb,...
It's a Carbon Copy of the Edlebrock carb, piece for piece...

Rochesters are out of production, 'n Holleys, while a fine Hod Rod carb, aren't used on very many boats,...
Mainly a few Volvos...

The Weber is a Fine, easy to tune, easy to rebuild carb,...
I'd rebuild yers to start, 'n if it don't work out, the Edlebrocks are reasonably priced replacements...

+1 with Bond-o...

The Weber is one of the easiest carbs to strip, clean and rebuild, and as it's so simple, the most reliable. If the Weber is in such bad shape, an Edlebrock 1410 is a direct replacement....

I'm replacing a Quadrajet, that will not quit dribbling fuel at idle, with a Weber 9666s. Have Webers on another Merc. Real crisp.
