Weather stripping to reduce rattle?

I have a slight rattle where my sun pad/engine cover meets the engine dog house & I was thinking of using weather stripping where the two meet as padding. Wondering what everyone thinks. Basically I'm looking at using something like this (cut in half):

And adhere it to my engine dog house where the pink line is here:

Should work,unless its to thick and holds the cover open a bit.

There is a latch on the cover so that's not a problem.
