Wear ring too big?

Got a 1990 SeaDoo GT that had a shattered wear ring and was experiencing a hesitation upon acceleration. Pulled the pump, cut the old ring and put in a new one. Now the impeller wont turn inside the new wear ring. Has anyone experienced this? What do I do? Grind the wear ring or grind the impeller? Thanks

what type of wear ring did you install and was the pump housing corroded and distorted?

Also some new rings are pretty tight. You need to start the ski and the impeller will shave off the plastic. But liek jeff said
