Officials worry urinating swimmers may be reason for 500 dead fish

Peeing while swimming in a lake may not just be taboo ? it could also be lethal, for the fish.

At least that's what a group of anglers contend, blaming swimmers for the 500 dead fish that have turned up in a picturesque German lake near Hamburg, The Local reported.

Fish, frogs, snakes, birds and numerous other life forms pee in the lake. I suspect that humans peeing in the lake (even beer drinkers) contribute a less than trivial amount.

Have oxygenation and toxic ag runoff been assessed?

"The ice-skaters make a noise that wakes the fish out of hibernation," Graupner said. "Then they can't breathe and freeze. That's a very common phenomenon."

A few paragraphs down in the cited article is the real cause. So after the Ice fishing season is over up Norph are a lot of dead fishies floating in the slush? If ice skating is bad, what about a bunch of beer guzzling ice fishermen* driving trucks, cars and quads and snowmobiles dragging ice houses and drilling through the ice? And peeing on the ice too.

*only referring to non-iboat forum members, of course.

yeppers, and when the lakes freeze for a extended period of time and oxygen is depleted, they die as well, the real reason, not because of people pee'ing............now let's get real people.
