I just bought a 2001 Mirrocraft jon boat and would like to wax it to see if I can restore some of the color. What do you guys recomend I use to accomplish this task. Thanks in advance. Glenn

Gordhawk.. Many jon boats are painted with "flat" (usually green) paint colors.. <br /><br /> Waxing "flat" surfaces will just make it a bigger mess... <br /><br />If you try it, first try a small inconspicuous area to test the results... ;)

Re: Waxing Jon Boat

I am wondering why anyone would want to wax a Jon boat.<br />Jon's are a working boat and were never ment to be pretty. <br />Most Jon's look "experienced"<br />There is not enough wax in the world to make a pretty Jon. <br />But they certainly are functional.

Re: Waxing Jon Boat

The reason I was thinking about waxing this Jon boat is it has been left in the river all summer long. In the fall he would take it out but it had alot of corrosion, grime type stuff on it. I used a product called Zing on it & got it pretty clean, but you can see the water line around the bottom & I would really like to get rid of that if I can. Any ideas on how to get that remaining line off? The boat is a 2001 model & had never been cleaned before I bought it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Glenn

Paint it!!!!!!! :D :p <br /><br />I have used something called. ON/OFF bottom cleaner, the stuff cleans on contact. It was about 17bucks at the boat store. This should take off just about anything that you have on your bottom.<br /><br />Its some nasty stuff to touch or breath, it will burn hands and mess up your head if you breath it, be sure to use rubber gloves and a painting mask.

I'm with you, LCM. I do not understand why anyone would try to pretty up a jon boat. <br /> <br /><br />Last jon boat I bought, my duck hunting buddies dropped it off the trailer on the way to the lake and deliberatly dragged it through gravel on each side. Then we took gray, brown, black and green paint and enhanced the scratches. We all agreed it looked much better. :D
