I leave my boat in the water all summer. Can I leave wax on my hull to help protect it from algae

Simple answer....NO.

They make special waxes to do what you are asking. They last about 2 weeks.

Waxing below the water line for anything is a futile endeavor

Do you mean it sits in the water all season long or do you pull it out and clean it on occasion and put it back in

I have done that on my waterline and it worked quite well but not for an entire season.I also tried spreading a thin coat of Lucas red and tacky grease and that held up much longer.I experimented on the transom waterline for a few years. Then I just put on a wider 3m tape stripe.Charlie
