i am going to get a waverunner today and how can i test it? do i need water to start it?

Post sale probably reference date of orig post: hope he made out ok. Poor dude, no one on here answered his question. I guess this is the wrong site for prompt jet ski info. Ya man there is a long list of things to look for. 1st you do have to use water if starting on land, but that shouldnt be a problem unless its free because you have to do a sea trial. Moving on depends on how much they are asking. If its more than the cost of a new engine then a compression test is in order, Then look at the drivetrain, then look at the hoses and cables (steering, linkage,reverse). Then check that the electronics work, check for charging. Ask for replacement parts and service receipts. Ask for carfax, no wait a minute getting carried away here.
