I think Waukesha builds the engine and couples it to a volvo sterndrive unit. My first boat 18' seaflite had a Waukesha ford 302 coupled to a volvo 270 T outdrive unit. That little boat was pretty quick in its day, plus the T of the 270 was the trim model. So you could run it trimmed up a bit which you couldn't do with most of the other models of the old volvo stuff. Basically the Waukesha corp would take ford(maybe others) engines and marinize them for boat applications. Volvo did use some of their own engines in boats but it wouldn't be a Waukesha if it were a Volvo engine.
