Waterski pole for fishing boat

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone can give me good direction on what I need to purchase. I have a 2001 19.5 ft Lund Tyee, with a 225 HP outboard. This is NOT a bass boat, but a deep V fishing boat. Hopefully the attached image will show.

I have been tubing with this boat without a problem, however we have tried wake boarding and the rope stays in the water too long to do much. I would like to install some type of ski pole since we also would like to get into some type of skiing.

I fish alot more than I ski, so something easily removable is preferred. I take the family tubing\skiing probably about 5-10 times a summer. I have read other posts on this subject and the need for a strong support on the floor. Are the bow\line braces better? Would it be best to take the boat to a dealer to install?

Thanks in advance for any help.

you have to have braces to the transom and a set of braces under the floor attached to the twin i beams.the floor alone is not strong enough to hold a pole.i have a lund and would not even consider a pole.the boat just isn't designed for it.i love slalom skiing with mine,(1700 prosport,90 4s)i use the transom eyes

If you want to ski, tube, and knee board the transom eyes work fine.. if you want to wakeboard i suggest a "ski pole" they usually it into one of your seat bases and have 2 supports coming to the back of the boat.. I have done most using the eyes but its almost impossible to do tricks..

Ditto the ski pole attachment. My fish-n-ski has a ski pole which fits in the rear fishing seat base. Two braces (which take the majority of the load) come from near the top of the ski pole back to the sides of my splashwell, where they are attached to fittings with clevis pins. Very little force is applied to the seat base, it's all transmitted to the transom. My son much prefers using the ski pole while knee-boarding, but says it doesn't make a lot of difference for skiing.

Re: Waterski pole for fishing boat

Thanks for the info. A few more questions if you don't mind.

If you look at the first pic you can see there is a seat base mount. Will this work for the center pole? Do you have any brands that worked well for you?

The biggest problem I have with using the transom eyes is that the tow rope goes into the water for about half the distance to the knee boarder. They then only have about 20 ft of free rope to work with. I want to hopefully have the kids try skiing and wake boarding, but fear this limitation will hinder them enjoying the ride.

I also noticed many vendors no longer sell pylons, only wake board towers. Should I consider a tower instead? The cost is a lot more....hate to pay for expensive equipment when I don't have to.

Here's another pic of the boat.

EDITED my post. This is what I think I am leaning towards. Anyone have any experience with Barefoot International? This type of tower?

There are a few on eBay right now. Not sure if they will work with your seat base but might be worth checking out.
