I have a OMC outdrive .The drive would not move up so I tapped it with a screwdriver and it worked. When i got it home I removed the motor that controlls this. It went to the shop for repairs and they found it full of oil and it needs new brushes.
Should there have been oil in it or is there a seal someware on the drive or motor.
Thanks
Rick

Re: waters

Motors designed to run in water such as a sump pump and some of the higer quality bildge pumps and yes some T&T motors are filled with oil.

I found it strange when I took apart my first sump pump many years ago but that is the design.

Bob

HI Waters,
I've never seen an OMC TNT motor that was filled with oil. Yes there is a seal on the shaft of the motor, but the repair shop should know this.
Good Luck
