Waterpump repair

Hi to all

I am replacing the seals in my 40hp 1982 mariner waterpump, there are 2 seals that go together in the main housing, what I need to know is do they both face down or is the bottom seal facing up and the top seal face down. I have a manual but it does not explain this.

The top seal is installed with its lips facing upwards, then install the bottom seal with its lips facing downwards.

Note that this orientation is as-viewed with the pump body upright, in its normal position, not upside-down on the bench where you'll be driving-in the seals.
