Re: waterpump problem

how long did you let it run?mercs can take 10-15 sec to start "peeing".some people dont realize this and are afraid to let it run.i am NOT saying to let it run for more than 20 sec.DONT!just checking on this first.if you did give it time, then the troubleshooting will begin.search this forum using search feature to find possible causes as theres many possible causes and many threads have been written on this.good luck.

Hello Rednex

What were the symptoms before the water pump job? Did it ****(even poorly) before the water pump job? Did you check the other cooling system areas ,the termostats and poppit valve?

But first take Starcraft's advice and let it run for 10-15 secs before going further.

Lemme know,

Re: waterpump problem

Rednex, A lot of those V6 motors have the telltale downstream of the thermostats. They may not show water for a few minutes. If water comes out the grates above the antiventilation plate, the pump is working. Check the heads for overheat with a hand. If you can hold the head for 5 sec, it is running cool enough.

I've had to take em off and ream em out. Durned stringy algae chit.

Chris is wrong. All the V6's have the telltale in the t-stat discharge.
Even if there's no stats, it takes bit for water to get there.

The most useful device for checking on the cooling system is a water pressure gauge.

hope it helps
