Hey, I'v got a buddy who has a 80's inline 6 115 hp. He is thinking about using the engine on something other than a boat. (don't know, don't wanna know.) He is hooking up a radiator with an electric water pump, and was wondering what the maximum water temp should be for the engine. I told him no higher than 190 f , but am not 100% sure. that was just a guess.

Any ideas?

I was thinking with a big enough radiator, and a good airflow, he could probably keep temps down to about 150.

Normally those motors run hot and cold as they have no thermostat. I would think a 140*F thermostat would be a good one, as they is what most OBs and I/Os use.

Run a closed loop system with 120 degree t-stat, In the late 60's karters ran the inline 80hp with pump driven of front wheel.....
