Water spraying up behind boat...

Any of you guys have an idea what could be causing this? Ever since I replaced my outdrive a couple of years ago the boat sprays water up in the back when on plane. I don't remember the boat doing it before that but it sat for a couple of years so maybe it did and I just don't remember. If I'm cruising along at slower speeds it's not bad at all but the faster I go the worse it gets. I was going about 30-35mph in this picture. It's almost like something is dragging in the water behind it.

It's a 1995 Four Winns 200 Horizon with a Volvo SX drive and stainless 3 blade prop. I just don't even know where to start because my outdrive is recessed beneath my swim platform and I can't get back there to look when I'm driving.

I've got a 95 190 Horizon, and it kicks up a pretty good rooster tail as well. I think it's just inherent with the boat.

This may sound rediculous, but I had the same thing happen on my boat once too, come to find out, I forgot to lift the boarding ladder up. Made a real wierd noise too!

When is the last time you pulled the drive/checked the gimbal and ujoints, the bellows, etc...?
This should be done annually.

Did you just put on the swim platform? It could be because of the support arms....

Can you post a pic' of the back of the boat?

Just had the drive and engine out, had to replace the engine coupler and studs because the studs holding it and the flywheel on had backed off and one stud sheared off. It was wobbling around pretty bad. Just bought the boat (used) last summmer so I had to give it a good going over this year.
The boat is a larson 174 sei and the swim platform is actually part of the hull mould. I had one of those moments and forgot to lift the boarding ladder so it was hanging in the water. As you can see by the pic, the bottom of the ladder is just below the bottom of the hull.

Stupid question perhaps, but you are trimming up after you get up on plane right? If the outdrive is trimmed down while on plane, it will cause spray like that.

Please start your own thread.
Everyone is responding to the OP's (Raidergrad's) questions, about his boat and setup.
