How often do you change your filter? I'm getting ready to add one to a 12 year old boat that doesn't have one now. So I'm assuming there is some water in the gas. Should it be changed sooner the first time? My last boat I changed it every spring and never had any problems.

If you drain the bowls on the carbs & find no water. Then I don't think water will be an immediate issue.
Mine are changed yearly.

Yeah, I'm wondering if there is anything written in concrete so to speak. Searching the subject didn't turn up anything.

What size motor? if its under 50hp or so, Racor makes a really nice clear filter/separater that is compact and easy to clean/dump water. I put one on my boat with a 40hp Evinrude and it works great. Think they sell it here in iboats mega mall.

Its going on a 75HP Merc. The dealer has one called a mini with Yamaha's name on it. Suppose to filter 10 microns or bigger. I'm really limited on space but it looks like this would fit.
