i just put in new water pump gaskets, and i can start the engine, but the water wont feed up into the engine, it goes through the impeller, i guess, then dinpersses into the engine case, and squirts out onto my feet...whats the deal??? Also the exhaust is heavy when this happens and it is very smokey... PLease help.

Re: Water pumps

Doesn't the impellor require a pin or shaft? Was that installed so it can catch? It has to spin to work.

Re: Water pumps

THe impellor housing typically mates with a cooling tube. It sounds like when you assembled the unit, you didn't get the tube mated properly.

The engine exhaust is mixed with the exiting cooling water to help cool it and muffle the sound a bit. If you're not getting water into the engine, then the exhause is not getting doused properly.

Dont run the engine until you get this resolved and you can confirm you are getting cooling water through the block.

Nav
