Hi' All
My bayliner 2533 , Mercruiser 5.7lt motor with Alpha 1 gen2 outdrive I live in the solomon islands and the sea is full or shoping bags, lots of S...t and had to stop all the time to remove bags & crap from the outdrive .So I have had a water pump fitted to th the motor . and it works well I need to know if I need to remove the impeller from the outdrive or is it OK with it still in the leg? the water just run out to sea now. And have a skin fitting in floor.

Re: water pump

Sooner or later the old impeller will fall apart on its own.
I wouldn't want it in there to possibly mess things up its not doing anything so why not pull it out and save the possibility of it causing a problem.
Though I can't think of anything it could do off hand but you never know.

Re: water pump

The only problem I can see with the removal of the out drive pump is heat build-up in the leg should you have thru-hull exhaust.
