I'm having a harder and harder time priming my 5.0 when I put it in the water. I think my water pump, the one connected to the block, is going bad. Can I replace it with an afer market pump. If so which one? If not where can I get one made for the unit?

Re: water pump

Krank, you didn't mention what make or year of engine you have and what drive. In general the circulating pump will work untill it leaks water around the shaft or is making noise. If no noise or water leak around the shaft, I would be looking at the raw water pump, or (depending on setup)water hose at transom failure.

Sorry, It's for a 1994 5.0 yamaha stern drive.
It has froze up once, but I was able to free it up. I'm living on borrowed time.
Thanks
Steve
