I have a 1980 140 hp Johnson, and I am seriously thinking of replacing the "impeller".I have owned this motor for about 8 years, probably have maybe 50 hours on it,if that. The engine runs good, pumps water out of the "pi--er" really well, but being a bit "anal' I think maybe it's time to change out the "impeller". My question is, If the motor is in its down position I don't think that I have enough clearance between the lower unit and the floor of my garage to get the lower unit with its drive shaft intact out of the mid housing, even if I lower the tongue of my trailer on the garage floor. I am I able to tilt the engine up, will this cause me any problems as far as dropping the lower unit with its drive shaft intact.

Re: water pump

"Tilt her up buttercup"
Tis the way.
You are way overdue for an impeller.
