How hard should the stream of water, (that the water pump is pumping), be squirting out of the hole on the side of the motor?
It's squirting O.K. now, but I think I have seen it squirting faster before.

Re: Water Pump

If it is still streaming, it is probably fine and you can continue running it. However, it may indicate that either your water pump is old OR the indicator pee stream is obstructed. The latter is very common and the first thing to check. You can blow compressed air into the hole (don't make a seal though)to dislodge anything. Or you can stick a paperclip into the hole to check for a block close to the exit. Also, on many models, you can detach the hose that connects to the pee jet on the housing and look for junk.

If that fixes it, you are good. If not, you may want to replace the water pump impeller to be safe.
