The impeller on my bf90 was way overdue for replacement. I dropped the gearcase and found that the housing and the pump base were very corroded. There were four bolts holding the impeller housing to the base and two bolts holding the pump base on. the two holding the base on came out easily, but trying to take the bolts off the pump housing the heads broke off fairly easily. I thought it was unthreading and it just popped off. i now have the housing off and the very corroded pump base attached by 3 threaded rods (with heat and p-b blaster i was able to remove one bolt, not that it really helps the situation) i definatly need a new pump base because of the condition that it is in but i need to get the old one off first. any suggestions?

Re: Water pump

Thanks INTERNETOUTBOARDS i ended up having to chip the pump base from around the bolt studs then pry it off. after that the studs weren't too difficult to get out with pliars. they were locked in around only the pump base. I have another question about the bearing around the drive shaft. does it need replacing? it has a little rust on it but i dont want to replace it if i dont have to, is it worth it since i'm in there? thanks
