Re: water pump

not familiar with your motor but wrest assured that there is not much too it. generally you need to remove the bolts (usually frozen) that mount the L/U to the leg. you will need to disconnect the shift-shaft at the shift-shaft-coupler. on the only Suzie that i've worked on, the shift-shaft-coupler was behind a cover plate located on the top of the exhaust housing (leg) at the front of the motor, where the leg meats the power-head.

it is STRONGLY suggested that you aquire a service manual if you plan on working on your motor. it will have all of the info you need for performing preocedures at home. (asfter market service manuals are available at the link located at the lower left corner of this page).

Good Luck
HAVE FUN!

Re: water pump

On the Suzuki DT85 which may be similar to the DT65, the shift shaft coupling is reached by removing a rubber grommet on the starboard side of the engine lower cover and loosening (do not remove) the nut at the end of a horizontal shaft behind the grommet. When the nut is all the way loose but not off, you can push the shaft in enough for the shift rod to disengage the linkage. Engine should be in neutral if my memory is correct. If you take the nut all the way off the shaft may slide over too far and it can be a bear to pull it back out.

Do get a manual.
