Has any one ever given any thought to fitting a sleeve into the water pump, made of Teflon or Teflon and Delrin mixed together? I thought of tring it on and old corroded pump body to see if I could make it servicable again, but with the possibility of reducing the damage that dry running can cause (should it ever accidently run dry, I never run my motor out of water).

not really as the cost here would be prohibitive. at 70 dollars an hour I cant spend to much time fitting anything. the pump kit is only about 30 dollars. and here in the salt we just dont see any of the old motors anymore.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Re: water pump sleeve

fair enough from your perspective, but my pump is unservicable at the moment, if i fit a new impeller, it will get torn apart with in an hour. So back to my question, could it work? I doubt that I will be able to find a new pump for my motor here in au.

lark...I would get ahold of a spare waterpump kit and try it. You might find something that will work...who knows what you can do till you try...just a thought :)
