I bought a 2006 Yamaha 115 hp Fourstroke with 90 hours in freshwater. Should I prophylactically change out the waterpump or wait for trouble?

Howdy, Suprane.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Think about the time, place and severity of "trouble".

Do you really want to be disabled 10 miles from the ramp in a thunderstorm with night coming on?

Thank you and nooooo, but I wouldn't replace the entire engine "just in case" so I'm asking what is a reasonable life for a water pump might be?

Why not follow Yamaha's recommendations on replacement and service?
That is why they produce the maintenance charts.
I have had some last less that a year and others that have lasted a couple of years depends on how and where you are running the motors

Some people replace annually, Suprane, others every 2 years. When the last replacement is not known it is a good idea to start the clock with a replacement now.

My second on JB's answer. And take it from me, it's not all that difficult of a job to change out that water pump.
