Have a 2007, BF15D, model BALJ-1402007 and need to pull lower unit to remove/replace water pump. Other than 4 bolts near bottom, I think the shifting rod must be "unpinned" to allow unit to drop. Please advise.

Also, cannot locate an on line parts distributor for 2007 outboard! Only 2006 and earlier. And advice.

I'm in BAJA and no disributors are available.

Re: Water Pump Removal

Put the engine in reverse, there should be(?) a couple of nuts exposed in the opening about half way down the leg. The small one is a jam nut, the longer (3/4") should unscrew seperating the shift shaft. Only undo the jam nut enough to undo the longer bold, that way when you reassemble it, you will very close in the shifting, w/o causing any major work trying to get it right. Maybe count or only go 1 turn with it and mark the position so you know where it belongs.

Re: Water Pump Removal

Be gentle and don't strike it on the fins. Use a wood block on a larger surface and try hitting the wood. Last resort is to try and force something small into the part that seperates the two. You said it had not been in salt water, so I would not have thought there would be a problem. If you can get a little bit of give, use a wood wedge. Spray with WD-40 or Blaster PB if you have it. Let it soak. Maybe a little heat, but be very careful not to get it too hot.
