Gteetings to all,

Hoping someone can give mw some valuable info.

Do not know much about small outboards. My son has a 110 merc (9.8hp) Serial # 4128332. Is this a 1983? We plan to take this on a remote fishing trip. Today I put it in a barrel to make sure it runs OK. On idle the water pump stream runs at a bit more than a trickle. Is this normal for this motor? Will the pump work better when going thruogh the water or should it be replaced?

If it needs to be replaced is it something I can do myself with ease. Iv never done on before.

Thanks....Kevin

Re: Water Pump Question

Pump impeller should be changed every year or so is what they say. I checked mine today and it was fine after a year. Should be around 6 connect points on the foot and it should slide right off with a little help. Then 4 more connect points hold the pump cover on. Slide the cover up and off and theres the impeller. Should be intact. If not replace with a new one. About 20-25 bucks. Good luck.
