I am new owner of a 1998 Signature 300, twin engine mercruiser 5.7L Both engines start ok. but the port's engine water pump pulley won't turn as the belt slips makes a loud noise and smokes. Please advise.

Problem solved, found the problem thanks to a forum member's advise. Solution: replaced a damaged impeller.

Re: water pump pulley won"t turn

Glad you got it figured out. I actually had an impeller "rock" backwards with the motor once and sincethe serpentine belt wasn't tight enough, it wouldn't turn it back over. Sorry you had to replace an impeller.

How does the 300 run with twin 5.7s? And what drives do you have? My dad had a 99 Sig 300 with twin 5.0EFIs with B3s and it did great. I can't imagine how much better the 5.7s would do!
