Hello, I am new a newbie who needs some help. I own a 1988 Ski Supreme with a Chevy 350 motor. It is overheating. I replaced the thermostat and the water pump on the motor. It is still over heating.

I know there is a pump that pulls in water from outside the boat. What is this pump called? I need to order a new pump and don?t know what it is called and what type of pump I need to be asking for. Anyone familiar with what type of pump was used on this year and make of boat? A link to the correct part would be a big help.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for your reply. I did check for blockage. No blockage. It must be the pump.

The raw water pump (aka sea water pump) could be belt drive,or mounted on the crankshaft pulley. Post a picture of the front of your engine, then we can help you ID the pump.

Who marinized the engine? Is it a Crusader, a Pleasurecraft, Indmar, Mercruiser, or something else? Most of them have the belt drive pump as mentioned, but exactly what that pump is will probably vary depending on who put together the package. Most of the time you can simply rebuild that pump with a new impeller rather than replacing the whole thing.
