Water Pump and Harmonic Balancer Vibration

Hello,

I just removed the raw water pump from a Volvo Penta 501B, replaced the impeller, and reinstalled the water pump. Upon staring the engine, I'm noticing some vibration of the pump and harmonic balancer.

I was careful to tighten down the Allen bolts connecting the pump to the harmonic balancer, and I'm not seeing any vibration along the water pump bracket-- just on the pump itself and the harmonic balancer.

Any suggestions on where to look to nail down the cause of the vibration? Is it a cause for concern?

You haven't got the pump sitting flat against the pulley. If you look at the pulley, there are raised portions around the bolt holes. Get the base of the pump turned right and the hole in the pump just fit over them.
