It has been some time since I replaced the water pump on my '88 100hp Mercury outboard. I have to admit that as we get older we don't boat as much as before. Only go out maybe 5 times a year. Maybe one 3 day camping trip?
Any way, with another boating/camping season ahead I decided to get ambitious and replace the impeller. To my surprise the thing looked brand new when I removed it.
My question is, should I simply put two new gaskets in and put the old impeller back? Or should I bite the $40 bullet and do the entire kit any way? Also check that plate. Is it OK looking?
Thanks,
Dave
