Hi guys, 1988 4.3l OMC Cobra.

I'm trying to replace the water pump shaft seal, o-rings and gasket behind the water pump adapter. The manual says use vice-grips and pull the sucker out. Problem is, darn thing won't budge at all!

Any ideas? I was thinking dousing the thing with PB Blaster and waiting till morning.

Thanks

Yep, vice grips. Go ahead & soak it with PB, but what's holding it in is the 0-ring that surrounds the adaptor. I have used a small screwdriver to pry it out a bit, but be careful so u don't damage it. Those adaptors ain't cheap.

Vice grips, PB Blaster, a heat gun and a small screwdriver......got a few screwdriver marks on the adapter but the thing actually came out.

A little advice, brace yourself when your pulling on that thing......when it finally came out....I went for a little tumble.

Thanks for the help
