Hello, I am a newbie. I have a 1989 Mercury 80 HP outboard. I had the impeller replaced at the end of last season. I am noticing that the water pressure coming out is not very powerful. No overheating beep is sounding. Engine is running well. Am I possibly doing damage by running it this way? I will not be doing repairs myself-what could I expect as far as problems? Only thing noticable is a slight oil leak.

thanks in advance,

Re: Water Pressure

If you haven't been on the beach, running it sand, or through a bunch of lake/river salad, or running it out of the water, to plug up or destroy the pump, chances are the pump should still be OK. You might try probing the pee hole to see if a bit of junk is just plugging that up. If it still flows water slow, keep an ear on the temp warning device, it may in fact have a problem.
