Water Pressure Sensor . . .

The water pressure sensor on my starboard engine is starting to act up. It starts out reading at 30+ psi when the engines initially start (should be in the 5-7 psi range at low RPM's) and after a while comes down to more believable readings.

So, tomorrow is 'boat maintenance day' . . . I bring beer out to the boat, the Admiral will bring a book.

Anyway, I sourced the part, which I believe is a GM style pressure sensor (50 psi), . . .

The mercury branded part (8M6000623 ) is about $165 o_O . . . the generic no-name part is $26 . . . :)

As far as I know, I got about 8 years out of the Merc branded part. I'll see how the no-name version holds up.

The wetted parts are steel, that's why they fail

I have not put the new sensor in yet, but in our last boat outing the old one started working again. 🤔

It looks like the sensor is now reading low, so it will be on the replacement list for the off season.

Our boat outing yesterday got cut short because the toilet 🚽 broke. It needs a new macerator pump. The pump is a bit pricey, but on its way.
