Water pressure gauge

I have a new boat with a new 2011 F150. The water pressure gauge isn't working. I took the cowling off to see if something isn't connected. There is one connector that isn't plug into anything and it has a tag says to gauge. It has 2 wires, green/white and green/red. I don't see any place that this connector could go to. There's a possibility that the gauge itself is not working. I could take it to the dealer and have them take care of it but I would rather do it myself if it's something simple. Could someone tell me what to look for on the engine side? Thanks.

Re: Water pressure gauge

can you tell us or post a picture of what guage package you have ?
on the engine side its either gonna have a water pressure transducer or a hose, depends on the guage package.

Re: Water pressure gauge

Thanks. It turned out to be the sender which is under console. The gauges have an analog needle and face but take digital signal from the sender.

Re: Water pressure gauge

ya simply gotta post a picture.
yamaha never made such a beast.
you can either use an analog mechanical guage using a pressure tap and hose between the engine and the console OR use the pressure transducer that mounts on the block and that unused wire marked wp on the port side just aft of the oil filter to send an ANALOG signal to a command link or command link plus guage package.
the water pressure transducer is an option, it has to be installed by the engine rigger it is NOT installed in japan.
from japan it has a plug in the hole, kinda like your engine battery isolator had a plug on it when it left japan.
so if ya can, post a picture I gotta see how this was rigged.

Re: Water pressure gauge

I will once the sender arrives. It was explained to me that there's a water tube connects to this canister(sender) and wires attach to the gauge. The gauges are not Yamaha.

Do you know what is the adequate water pressure for this engine?

Re: Water pressure gauge

whatever it dont overheat with.
so far I am not aware of any guage package that is compatible with the command link transducer.
thats why I am asking for pictures.
or at least who built the hull.
this I gotta reasearch.
and I would appreciate your help.
from the factory the water pressure tap hole on the block is plugged, the rigger has the option to use the adapter and transducer for command link or the adapter and a hose for an analog guage.
dunno what you have but I would like to.

Re: Water pressure gauge

Here ya go bud!

The boat is a Phoenix. The left gauge has speed, fuel level and battery voltage. The right gauge has rpm, trim, and water pressure.

Re: Water pressure gauge

interesting to say the least.
not familiar at all with that gauge.
however the F150 2011 model has an option for either CAN technology OR mechanical sending for water pressure.
dunno what you gauge needs.
next time I am on the horn with the RTA's ill ask if they know.
pics of the back side would help even more.
CAN isnt really propriatory, its kinda like the NEMA 2001 buss technology.
just dont know how many manufacturers are making stuff that is plug and play with yamaha's command link, BRP's I link and mercury's smart craft, compatible ecm's.
in all the above the sensor data is sent to the engine ECM, from there the ECM transmits the data to the gauge.

Re: Water pressure gauge

a bit different from factory yamaha stuff.
I still cant help but wonder why it wasnt rigged with command link. the square command link tach can give something like 32 Engine parameters and has an option for water tempth and temp.
but it looks like a nice package, just pray it doesnt break as it wont be part of the yamaha warrenty.

Re: Water pressure gauge

I'm sure it's custom made for Phoenix and it part of the boat warranty. It'd be nice if it has the command link gauge though.
