I want to install a water pressure gauge on a 2005 90 hp 2 cyl Mercury and already have a temp. gauge in the plug by the spark plugs can I use a tee fitting or can I tie it into the tell tale hose.

Re: Water pressure gauge

Do it like this. This is on a 75 Merc triple. The brass fittings are better than the plastic stuff in the kit and can be obtained for about two bucks at your local home improvement store plumbing dept (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.)

Re: Water pressure gauge

Any ideas of what the water psi should be? I'd like to install a gauge as well but not sure what I should be getting for readings.

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.

Re: Water pressure gauge

Water pressure is highly dependent on the engine. My 75 Merc triple runs 5-6 PSI at idle and 15 - 17 PSI at WOT. Condition of the impeller is important in what you read. The idea is to install a new impeller when you install the gauge. Then note the readings at idle and WOT. In the future, any deviation from the "normal" readings is an indication that the impeller is going south.
