Re: water not pumping

Are you running it in the water or in a barrel?

Did u make sure the key is in the keyway on the driveshaft? Without it, the impeller won't spin.

Re: water not pumping

If you are running in a barrel they like to run deep. The waterpump is not self priming. You need to have the pump housing submerged.

Re: water not pumping

a) pump not assembled correctly
b) you missed the pump outlet with the water tube
c) the grommet in the pump outlet got folded over during final assembly
d) incorrect parts used
e) pump body not well sealed to wear plate
f) pump housing or wear plate scored (if complete kit not installed)
g) pump air bleed hole plugged
h) water not deep enough for the pump to do its thing
i) debris stuck in water passages
j) stuck thermostat or vernitherm, if motor has them
k) key missing or incorrect
l) you went cheap and installed only an impeller, rather than a complete OEM kit
m)
n) pump rotates clockwise looking from the top

The vanes make no difference ... if you install them incorrectly oriented, they will flip to the correct position upon rotation.

Re: water not pumping

that pretty much covered it.... also i believe there is a grommet at the power head side that I have seen swell... not sure if all engines have this or not. and the water tube could be corroded (leaking like a seive) or cracked.
once you finish that checklist you should have it working. I find peace of mind pushing water up the water tube with a hose... lets me know that if the water pump works that water going where it needs too. just remember if you do that.. it doesnt take much pressure or flow to know it works.
