I have a 1994 abemarle 265 xf. What type pipe and fittings is used to the raw water wash down? If so, where to get them.

Thanks

I'd go with pex. There are alot of boats that have it, but some are I think metric sizes. Its a little more reliable than the old school gray pipe and fitting they used back in the day. Any local hardware should have it. But the thru-hull fitting should be bronze, with a ball valve attached, along with a filter screen.

The fittings should be regular pipe. Only use bronze fittings, and they make them to fit pex.

I used a bronze scoop pickup (thru hull) to eliminate any priming issues.

The strainer had molded hose barbs so I went with nylon hose fittings (non-corrosive) and reinforced nylon hose (clear to see obstruction) in between.

Don’t forget to incorporate a quick disconnect to facilitate draining the system for the winter

Oh ya....throw away the stupid coiled hose that comes with the kit. Cuts you water flow about half.

I use a 5/8” X 25’ RV (white) hose on mine. Leave it coiled up in the splash well
