I have a 76 johnson 85
I hooked up the water to check out motor after winter storage. Started right runs good, very smooth.
I noted a steady trickle out the 2 ports at the back of the motor, that's normal, also noted water out the 1/8" holes on the lower unit, one in the front and one on each side. Just above the prop there is a bank of 3 large holes on each side you can see thru. Water runs pretty freely out there and along the seem where the lower unit joins the upper unit directly in line with where the exhaust goes down there is a leak. I've never noticed the three holes at the front before, the videos I've seen show that so I think that's normal. I've also never seen water out the three large holes above the prop. I'm thinking the water out the seem could be the exhaust seal leaking, does this sound correct. Btw I drained the oil from the lower unit there was no water only oil and the correct amount.

Thanks
Keith
