2001 Mercury outboard- 90HP ELPT- Just replaced impeller with same kit as 2 years ago. Was careful while reinstalling drive shaft into power head, that it was seated & that water pump output rubber “bushing”, which was installed on the top of the water pump housing, would seat up into the housing above. Mine always takes a while to seat the pinion gear but it seemed to snug up properly against the mid section and bolted nice and tight. No leaks between the lower unit housing and the midsection but it is leaking from above, when water muffs are on and engine is running? Not sure if I ever noticed water coming from this fin above the lower unit seam? Water is coming out the exhaust through the prop and the pee hole up top but I don't remember the water flowing out of the midsection the way it is? See photo attached. Is this normal?

While some water leakage in the mid section is normal, this does not look right.

That is a pretty big gap.
It appears the gearcase is not fully seated against the mid section.
